![]() You'll see that the UI for some things like inventory management are VERY different on the VR version as compared to the PC version. As to the code itself, I don't foresee any differences between Quest 2 VR and the SteamVR version. To be specific, the triangle counts will be the same, but the textures are higher resolution and the shaders are enhanced. A SteamVR version of the game would be based on the PC graphics and have the same graphics. You see it in things like the water where if you compare side by side you see the shaders we use are different on the Quest 2. We push the Quest 2 as far as it can go, but it is not a PC. The Quest 2 VR graphics are slightly degraded from the PC graphics due to hardware limitations. The VR version is an incredibly cool and immersive feeling, but I'd have trouble wearing the headset for the dozens of hours it would take me to play the game.Īs to comparing the graphics: We haven't done the SteamVR versions of the game yet so a bit of it is speculation at this time, but I can tell you the bit I know. I like each of them for very different reasons. Perhaps someone reading this knows the answer? For example, if Steam offers a Windows and a Mac version of the game and you own both computers, does someone have to buy both versions?Įven though our PC version and VR version are based on the same code and graphics they are a completely different experience and have a quite different feel. I would like it if purchasers of the PC version can get discounted, or free, access to the VR version. I'm not sure how Steam handles multiple versions of a game. It shouldn't be too much longer! I'm hoping that it will be within the next month. We were getting close to releasing the SteamVR version when we decided to hold it to add the teleport method of locomotion. We started with our Quest 2 version, which has been enhanced several times since the initial release, and then added the higher resolution graphics from our PC version, and are just now adding teleport capability.
